Tips To Help Truck Drivers Stay In Shape

Electric Bug Killer

The hand held bug killer is the best way of ridding your immediate vicinity of insects, especially the flying ones like mosquitoes. The indoor bug killer vaporizes any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a nice, loud, electrical ‘zap’!

However, this does not mean to say that the hand held insect zapper cannot be operated outside, as long as it is not raining. It should be treated like any other high voltage electrical equipment. Keep the electric bug killer dry and please do not use it while you are standing in the pool!

Models do vary greatly, but there are basically only two kinds of hand held bug killer: the battery operated bug killer and the rechargeable electric bug killer. Both models are equally effective at zapping bugs and work on the same methods.

The hand held bug zapper looks like a ‘junior’ tennis racquet, but with three sets of ‘strings’, which are in fact wires. The innermost network of wires becomes live at the touch of a button, while the other two networks, one on either side, are only earths.

When a bug is trapped between the wires of the indoor bug zapper, it creates a short, which vaporizes it instantly with a loud crack and a flash. The hand held insect killer will zap other insects too, but they tend to burn instead of explode.

I have been using the rechargeable type for five years and am extremely happy with the indoor insect zapper. In fact, the electric bug zapper has come a long way in the last few years. A fully charged hand held insect killer is strong enough to last for several hundred swipes and will hold it’s charge, when unused, for weeks without any significant discharge.

The rechargeable battery unit will take serious use for the best part of a year, although its capability to hold a charge for a few weeks slowly diminishes after six or seven months.

The most recent indoor bug zapper I’ve used has a main on/off switch, an LED that comes on when it is live (the brightness of this light also gives an indication of the battery’s strength) and an LED that comes on when it is plugged in for recharge.

The instructions on the wrapper say that it should be (re)charged for about sixteen hours. I usually put it on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the hand held insect killer shows a marked increase in performance with only a couple of hours recharging.

The latest version I’ve had also comes with a powerful beam called a ‘headlamp’. I have found this very handy when out in the garden, but I’m unsure whether it’s meant to attract the flies in the dark so that you can zap them if you’re feeling bored or just vindictive, rather like an Anglerfish.

I’ve used the headlamp on my electric bug zapper for that reason too, but the light uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the electric bug killer is a big asset to any outdoor event. The hand held bug zapper is useful for ‘clearing’ your bedroom before retiring; it’s unequalled for killing evening mosquitoes and it will eradicate wasps at a lunch table as well.

I’m In Love With A Mule

I am reminded why being a California resident is so desirable now that the rainy, cold days of winter have been replaced by the balmy temperatures of spring . The rolling hills are cloaked in vibrant green grass and dotted with wildflowers. Our beaches are wide open and belong to the locals while they are remain too cold for water sport seeking tourists. On the horizon stand our majestic mountains that reflect the peachy-pink sunsets and velvet blue night skies. It simply is heaven on earth.

. We have enjoyed spontaneous picnics in meadows alongside Ortega Highway and day trips to Big Bear to engage in snowball fights. We have spent evenings at the beach roasting marshmallows after exhausting days spent peddling our beach cruisers back and forth on the boardwalk between the Huntington, Newport and Balboa Piers, Yes, life is good.

For each of these little journeys we pack an arsenal of paraphernalia; Frisbees, a playing cards, blankets, beach towels, sunscreen, lip balm, munchies, cans of pop, cold water and so on.

Of all these little necessities, my most favorite is the Ice Mule. My husband picked up our Mule at a hunting/fishing retailer (which is funny because he would never harm a fly). He thought it might come in handy someday. He was right.

We rarely leave home without it, our snacks and drinks stay cold for hours and hours.. In fact, I a short time ago realized that it had been left in the car overnight and was dreading to extracting the deviled eggs that surely would emit noxious fumes upon removal from their Tupperware grave. What a surprise I got when I opened the bag to discover that everything inside was still very cold! Twenty four hours later the Ice Mule was still working hard.

The Ice Mule now joins me on jaunts to the grocery store. My Mule gets loaded up with all of the perishable items and I can continue running my errands before returning home. I truly love this thing!

Soon the blossoming green countryside will turn golden brown and the beaches will become a jam-packed, noisy mecca for the masses. Traffic on PCH will be reduced to a snail’s pace due to tourists looking for the closest spot to the beach (hint, these don’t exist in the summer).

When we do feel brave enough combat the crowds, you can bet that our Mule will be with us to keep our beverages, snacks, sunscreen and temperaments cool. On the ultra hot 90 degree days, which we always see toward the end of summer, it will be time to sit by the pool with our diet cola, Popsicles and iced tea. To minimize effort during the lazy days of summer, I intend to use my Ice Mule poolside, even though the kitchen will only be a few steps away. In fact I might not leave my lounge chair all summer long.

If you are planning your first trip, then it is to be hoped that this short piece will give you some tips.

In fact, there are quite a few sources of camping gear. Some offer better value for money than others, some offer low quality gear and others offer high quality at high prices. The trick is to be somewhere in the middle, where you can get good quality apparatus which is fit for purpose at the correct price and this is what we will help you to achieve.

One of the first points to comprehend, and it is very useful to understand this , is that a camper needs camping gear, ie the tent, sleeping bag, et cetera and camping supplies, ie food, insect repellent et cetera. It is helpful to realize the difference because some camping shops sell both gear and supplies, whereas others just sell one or the other.

Begining with camping gear. You can buy camping gear on line at dedicated camping shops, at department shops and at eBay and Amazon. Army and Navy Surplus shops are pretty decent too. After all, if it is decent enough for our fighting forces it is not going to fall apart the first time it rains or blows a bit. I have always found it hard to come out of an army and navy store without buying anything, even if they did not have what I went in there for. I always end up purchasing a new compass or a knife or some other gadget.

Department shops are next and you can pick up decent deals out of season, otherwise they tend to be costly and you have to be cautious of not buying ‘kiddies gear’ meant for use in the back garden by mistake. Sports shops and dedicated camping stores are usually very reliable, selling the best gear at the top prices.

Now on to camping supplies. To be honest, what do you eat when camping that you do not eat at home every week? Moose, squirrel, possum, deer? Well, you are not going to take that with you anyway, are you, so you might as well get your camping supplies from your favourite supermarket.

Or you can go to the camping shop and pay over the odds for ‘specialist foods’ and ‘survival rations’, but again, to be honest, you would be better off acquiring things like that either on line or at the Army and Navy store again. If you want to try out some of these army rations, it can be fun, but get them at bargain prices from the A&N.

Getting Married On St Croix

St Croix, in the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean has been a popular honeymoon destination for newly wed couples for decades, because the weather there is bright all year round and you can get pleasure from any number of wonderful holiday activities together.

Things to do include hiking, exploring, taking tours, horse riding, water sports like diving or sailing or just and lying in the sun. However, in the past few years, it has also become very popular to travel to St Croix for the actual wedding ceremony itself, not just for the honeymoon. Remember also that you will almost certainly be spending your honeymoon wherever you hold the wedding and although it may be nice to have friends and family around you for the wedding, you might wish they would leave for the honeymoon.

However, your guests may want to take a vacation while they are in the Virgin Islands, so if you want some time to yourselves, book them into a package holiday deal which will keep them occupied in order to give you some breathing space. Try to make a block booking and look for a big discount.

However, one of the main advantages is that you are already in the location where you will be honeymooning. Travel is stressful and tiring, although St Croix, USVI is less than 1,300 miles from Florida, so being on the spot for your honeymoon will save you all that.

Not only that though, your wedding will be an even more unforgettable event because an idyllic beach setting with a sunset background is really very moving. Most couples adore the island scenery, so a Caribbean wedding in St Croix may be perfect for you.

Stopping Common Indoor Bugs

Some of the most common indoor bugs we see all over the world are flies, spiders, fleas and beetles. Nobody likes to have a bug indoors, so most people will go to almost any extremes to eradicate these common indoor bugs. The less common indoor bugs may be woodlice, earwigs, scorpions and millipedes or centipedes, although they are no less wanted.

No matter where you live in the world, it is very hard to keep these common indoor bugs outside, unless you go to the extremes of keeping all your windows and doors closed all of the time, which is obviously impossible. I now live in Thailand and I know for certain that this is not an option.

So, just what can you do about it? Well, let’s sort out all the flying insects first, as of all the common indoor bugs, I think they are the most obnoxious indoor bug. They are very annoying, buzzing around your head and mosquitoes and other flies can create painful sores and besides that, all flies spread disease. I hate to see them strutting about on food, knowing that they have more than likely just come off some dung heap somewhere and now they are spitting on my food to taste it with their stinking feet!

My first line of defence is fine-mesh door and widow screens. They are not dear and can be fitted retrospectively to any window. My window meshes slide, so they can protect only one half of a window at a any one time, but I do not think that’s a problem. You can still create cross-winds, by opening two or more windows at opposite ends of a room. I love to see the flies on the mesh trying to get in by day and the mosquitoes doing the same by night. At night, it is best to turn on as little light indoors as possible so as not to attract these common indoor insects.

My second line of defence is natural predators – lizards, like Geckos (Jin Jok, in Thai). Some people don’t like them in the house either. I can’t say I’m all that keen on them indoors myself, but they are hard to keep out and they do consume hundreds, if not thousands, of indoor bugs every day. I like to see them lying in wait on the outside of the mesh, ready to jump on any bug trying to struggle its way through the wires.

My third line of defence is a handheld bug zapper. You know, the electric, handheld bug zapper that looks like a toy tennis racquet. The come in two forms: battery and rechargeable kinds. They are fantastic at catching and destroying any flying indoor bug. The inset literally explodes and vaporizes on contact with the fully-charged wires of the indoor bug zapper. If you haven’t tried using one, you really should. They are most satisfying. These three defences keep our house quite much free of flying insects.

The creeping common indoor bugs are less of a problem really. Door screens on springs will keep 95% of them out and the Geckos will help too. Spiders can get in pretty easily, but then, I don’t mind them too much as long as they keep out of my way, as they consume other insects too. They are on our side really. However, for those who can not bear to catch them and put them outside, the handheld indoor bug zapper works well on spiders too.

Sometimes, Fleas can be a problem, if you keep cats or dogs, but then if you wash or dust the animal once a month, you should be able to keep these common indoor bugs under control fairly easily. However, there are two final measures that we use. Once a week, before we go out for the day, we spray every room with fly killer and every six-months we spray any rugs or carpets with a bug killer containing permethrin, which will survive washing and vacuuming for that long without losing its ability to kill common indoor bugs on contact. If you stick with these methods, you should be able to keep your home or office quite free of the most common indoor bugs and the less common indoor bug as well.

Porsche 977 Carrera Sports Car

A new Porsche 911 is always intriguing because it’s exciting to see how after more than 40 years of development the Porsche team still manages to bring alterations and advancements to this iconic exemplar.

The new 997 combines the silky contemporary appearance of the 996 series with the popular retro styling of the older 911′s. The front end is completed with round lights and separate parking/fog/indicator lights. This modification, combined with wider hips resembles the last of the air-cooled 911′s, the 993. Other changes in the body shell are the new door handles, wing mirrors and the trendy cut of the rear wings into the bumper/lights.

Even if the 997 looks a lot like the previous model, the 996, the new car is actually 38mm wider which creates a more forceful look. With each new model introduced, Porsche has attempted to lessen the drag co-efficient helping the 911 slide through the air more effectively thus increasing performance. The same thing has been done with the new car, and if we compare the 993 Cd of 0.34 to the 997`s 0.28, we can see how far the aerodynamic game has moved on. The latest body shell and rear wing combine with new under body paneling to also offer improved levels of down force for this latest generation of Porsche’s finest.

The latest Porsche model has the best handling 911 ever. Improving a car’s rigidity helps ensure that the suspension can work more effectively and while not making such a quantum leap as the team did with the 996, Porsche enhanced torsional rigidity by 8% and added as much as 40% more strength.

For their new model car, Porsche wanted to enhance crash safety provisions so they added two new air bags, which are located in the side of each front seat back-rest and are calculated to protect the thorax. They also kept the earlier two front and two side airbags, which means that now there are six air bags in total. For the same reason, that is crash safety, the reinforced body shell features additional protection such as a more widespread use of very high strength steel.

The latest model is also 50 kg heavier than the 996. The reason is that current crash safety regulations sort of force vehicle manufacturers to produce new cars of increased weight, despite the widespread use of a large range of weight saving measures, such as an aluminum bonnet.

Aside from the crash safety advancements, much of the increased weight can be attributed to the higher standard specifications of the new cars. The power to weight ratio is similar with the latest car offering 233 bhp per tonne against it’s predecessors 238 but the new model’s improved aerodynamics must help it achieve Porsche’s claimed performance figures, which are identical to those of the 996.

Have you ever thought about running a wedding car business? Although it can be demanding, because you do not want to let anybody down on their big day, it is also fascinating and exciting.

3] It is a good idea to offer different packages or elements that a couple can use to build a package. So, you could offer transportation from the bride’s house to the church as one element. From the church to the restaurant as another element and from there to the chosen hotel, the airport or the railway station, as another element.

4] Make sure that your clients know precisely how long they have exclusive use of the vehicles for. This is helpful for them, so that they know precisely how long they have to take photos, eat or chat.

Transport plays a massive and vital part in any wedding day celebrations. In fact, poorly timed or scruffy transportation can ruin a wedding day. If you let that happen, your firm’s standing will suffer badly, especially in a town or village. You will need a high sense of responsibility; reliable, well-trained, sympathetic staff and high quality vehicles that look the part.
